Python has dropped one position, Java won the race !

Not a great news for Python users , Python has dropped one position to number 8 in TIOBE Programming Community Index for December 2005.

The TIOBE Programming Community index gives an indication of the popularity of programming languages.
According to the TIOBE, Java and C# are the only 2 candidates for the “TIOBE Programming Language of 2005” award. They have adopted the definition of programming language from Wikipedia, based on the definition languages such as HTML and XML are not considered programming languages.

Only 13 programming languages make it to the A grade (mainstream). Python has dropped one position to number 8 while Ruby comes in at number 26.

The ratings are based on the world-wide availability of skilled engineers, courses and third party vendors. Earlier they used only Google search to calculate the ratings. This year they have added MSN and Yahoo search.

Now the creator of Python programming language has joined Google, we can expect the growth in the popularity of the language.
