Bridging the Microsoft and Java worlds

Pandurang NayakPandurang Nayak’s session on ‘ Living with Heterogeneity – Bridging the Microsoft
and Java worlds’ presented at the IndicThreads.com Conference On Java Technology 2007 held in Oct 2007 in Pune, India.

Session Abstract
When a business commissions a new application today, it does not go in a green field environment. Instead, the application is expected to integrate with other existing applications and work with new applications as the enterprise datacenter evolves. Quite often these applications are on different platforms – Java, Microsoft, Linux, etc. – and integration across these platforms has typically been a daunting task.

This session demonstrates how a Java-based web application running on Linux can produce and consume MS office documents, interoperate with .Net Web Services and display UI using the Microsoft SilverLight technology.

Speaker
– Pandurang Nayak works as a Technology Evangelist for Microsoft Corporation
