A new approach to running Java virtual machines

Azul Systems has introduced a new approach to processing by leaving a company’s existing infrastructure in place, but running the virtual machine in a separate pool of specialized hardware.

The growth of J2EE and .NET applications has led to more and more virtual machines running in an enterprise. Azul hopes to target this market for specialized handling of virtual machines.

A ZDNet report quotes Shahin Khan, Azul vice-president and chief marketing officer “Our JVM keeps the OS-dependent activity on the existing server, but moves the entire Java VM — class libraries, methods, bytecodes, bit compilers, all of that — over to the Azul appliance.”
