What makes a 10X Software Engineer?

Software Engineering is about much more than coding. There are engineers that are solicited by everyone for their projects, teams and even companies. The mythical 10x engineers. What makes these engineers special? Is it their algorithmic prowess, knowledge of programming languages, communication skills, quality of code or something else? Having had the pleasure of working with (and working for) few of the best engineers in the world, I will talk about what makes a “rockstar” software engineer.

Speaker:

Sanket Atal is the Chief Technology Officer of MakeMyTrip and is responsible for all aspects of Technology Development and Support. He is a seasoned technology leader with patents to his name and over 20 years of software development experience with Informix, Oracle and CA Technologies.

He most recently worked at CATechnologies in Hyderabad as SVP & GM for the India Technology Center. Prior to this, he was heading product development at Oracle India with teams in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida. Sanket also helped establish Oracle’s R&D center in Portland, Oregon.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from Cornell University, New York, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MBA from the University of Oregon, Eugene. When not following the latest technology trends, Sanket enjoys cycling, spending time with his children and mixing cocktails.
