Although tsunamis and earthquakes isn't quite the subject of this site, we are featuring this article so as to do our little bit towards helping those affected in the tsunami and earthquake that has struck Asia. This blog is a compilation of information, resources, relief funds and ways in which you can help. We at IndicThreads are contributing to the prime minister's relief fund and we encourage you to contribute to any such reliable fund or organization.
Thanks. |

Almost every web application today talks to a database and so at the start of each project, one question is surely going to come up. Which persistence technology to use?
I tried to google my way to the answer however either my google skills
are limited or the answer / a fair comparison of the available
technologies isn't out there. |

J2SE 5.0 is unlike earlier Java releases where the creators added new functionality without touching the core language. With J2SE 5.0 a lot of things have changed even with the basic Java language. In this article, Chinmay Ogale looks at what is perhaps the most talked about change in J2SE 5.0, Generics. |

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a subject it seems Java folks just can't have enough of these days. All the hype around SOA has made it so big a concept that there's no running away from it.
It's quite likely that even marketing guys, CEOs and all project managers will soon start insisting that all Java development in the company should be using SOA. Jokes apart, it does make sense to check out SOA today. |

This entry is a compilation of resources that you should read before you take a stand on whether Java should be open source or not. Do share your comments and suggestions on the matter.

I was just reading this article titled "Half of US IT operation jobs to vanish"

I have been reading a discussion about Computer Book Piracy on the Yahoo Group ComputerBookAuthors. As most piracy discussions, this too has got into a developed vs developing nations argument. Here's my two cents on the matter. |

Starting November 23, 2004, JBoss Inc will hold its first public training in Bangalore,
INDIA. This in my opinion, opens the doors to learn more about JBoss
and its open source products. I will try to blog on the day's
proceedings at the end of each training day. Additional details about
JBoss Public Trainings can be obtained at
http://www.jboss.com/services/training
People who have not been able to register for the November training, can try to get into the one being held in January.
In 4 hours, I board the plane to India from Chicago. |

Just recently I discovered a simple problem in our application around the packaging of custom taglibs in JARs. Looking into the issue, it seems that the ".tld" files were placed in the /WEB-INF/tld folder in the JAR! That is wrong. The correct way to do it is... |

A long time ago Internet Explorer had a competitor. However over the past few years, it has been IE all the way. Netscape's share dropped sharply and although Opera is a very good browser it never became a serious IE competitor. Mozilla Firefox hopes to compete with the IE giant and win! |
