eXo Platform has announced the merger of its eXo Portal project with Red Hat’s JBoss Community Portal to create a comprehensive, standards-compliant, open source portal platform that will serve as the underlying technology for eXo’s portfolio of content, collaboration, and social networking enterprise solutions.

The idea of eXo Social is to leverage, in the enterprise, the power of Social Networks. To facilitate this, eXo Platform has developed this solution using Open Social standard, embedding Apache Shindig in its platform. Using this approach, enterprises can deploy in house a social network solution, and use all the features of eXo Platform Portal, Enterprise Content Management, collaboration tools in a secure way.

eXo Platorm has released new versions of the key components of its offering: Java Content Repository (JCR) Portlet Container (PC), Enterprise Content Management (ECM) & Collaborative Suite (CS).
