The Symbian Foundation today previewed Symbian Horizon application-publishing program. With Symbian Horizon, developers will receive assistance in building applications for Symbian devices and in placing those applications in the many global stores which reach Symbian customers, and will receive promotional assistance for bringing those applications to end users.

The Android project has released an early-look software developer kit for Android 1.5. Developers can use the SDK to try out the new version of Android and also start creating mobile applications for the final Android 1.5 SDK release that is expected around the end of this month.

As per a recent study by Evans Data, despite economic turbulence, 94% of corporate developers expect the development of wireless enterprise applications to either increase (47.6%) or stay the same (46.4%) in the coming year, with the strongest expectations for growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Only 6% of developers expect development efforts to decrease. Additionally, amongst commercial developers, two-thirds expect the average revenue per user to increase in 2009.
