JavaOne 2010 was the most anticipated JavaOne for a long time. Before the event, I wrote a piece JavaOne: Expectations From Java Today, Hopes For Java Tomorrow. Below is part 2, based on the actual happenings & announcements at the conference. I have tried to address the points I had raised in the previous piece and added some new ones.
Oracle announced in its recent webcast that JavaOne would continue to exist as an independent event although the dates would now be around Oracle OpenWorld time. JavaOne 2010 will be held in San Francisco on September 19-23. JavaOne 2010 call for papers is open till March 14, 2010.
Today’s Oracle – Sun webcast covered Oracle’s plans for Java & other Sun technologies post acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle. While the twitter hashtag #oraclesun is a good place to find info & opinions on Oracle + Sun, there’s also a lot of not so useful stuff there.
